One of the best parts about Giving Hearts Day is seeing Giving Hearts Businesses take the day and make it their own.
Whether it’s four area businesses teaming up to host a pickleball tournament benefitting multiple charities or Gehrtz Construction Services’ founder agreeing to pierce his ears if their team raises $10,000, each year GHD Businesses across the region come up with fun and innovative ways to engage their employees and customers.
This year, Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery is getting in the GHD spirit by hosting their inaugural “Cats vs. Dogs Supply Drive.”
As one of 110 GHD Goods Drive drop-off sites throughout North Dakota and northwest Minnesota, Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery is collecting goods on behalf of both Cat’s Cradle and 4 Luv of Dog Rescue.
“Our team is full of animal-lovers, so we thought it would be an engaging way to support two incredible organizations while encouraging community involvement,” says Alyssa Auck, a financial supervisor at Prairie Oral & Facial Surgery. “To make it more personal and fun for our staff, we’ve displayed photos of employees’ pets around the office to represent Team Cat and Team Dog — as well as to spark conversations with patients and visitors.”
As part of the friendly competition, the organization that receives more items will receive a $250 donation on Giving Hearts Day, with the runner-up receiving $150. Both organizations will, of course, receive all of the items that are donated.
To further raise awareness and participation, Auck says they will be handing our appreciation bags to patients the week of Giving Hearts Day (Feb. 9-12). Each bag will include Hersey Kisses, lip balm, and a QR code that links directly to GivingHeartsDay.org to help make donating quick and easy. They’re also planning to set up a photo booth, where team members can share and highlight the charities that they personally support.
Auck says Prairie & Oral Facial Surgery’s goal this year is 100 percent employee participation, as they celebrate the causes that matter most to their team.
“Giving back to our community is incredibly important to us,” says Auck, adding that the company’s providers will also be matching up to $25 per employee. “We’re excited to create a fun, engaging environment that encourages both our staff and our patients to participate in Giving Hearts Day.”
