Legacy Children’s Foundation - Giving Hearts Day

Legacy Children’s Foundation

Relationships are an essential part of fundraising, and Legacy Children’s Foundation made it a priority this Giving Hearts Day. Placing fifth in fundraising for the Medium Budget category, they showed that putting in the time and effort with these relationships pays off.

Legacy Children’s Foundation exists to equip vulnerable youth with positive relationships, personalized resources, and leadership skills to reach their full potential. The programs they provide center around teaching students to learn, serve, and lead in all areas of life. Giving Hearts Day is important to ensure they are able to continue providing these programs and opportunities to ultimately eradicate poverty for New American teenagers.

The highlight for their team this year involved simple conversations with both past investors and community members that were new to the Legacy Children’s Foundation mission. They even activated their board leadership, challenging each board member to develop a group of fifty people to stay in touch with for the year. Each board member contacted their group members between January 8 to February 1 to personally invite them to participate in Giving Hearts Day.

These groups created by each board member became their focus even in the week before Giving Hearts Day. The invitation extended was not to show their support just on Giving Hearts Day, but all year round. Check out the video below made by two of their board members!

True to their attentiveness to each individual supporter, Legacy Children’s Foundation thanked each donor this year by phone and by a handwritten note from a Legacy student, all within 24 hours. It’s these personal touches that show each donor they are a crucial part of the work of Legacy Children’s Foundation.

GHD Awards are co-sponsored by Bush Foundation and Dakota Medical Foundation.
