Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley

Coming in first place for fundraising in the Small Budget category, Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley was certainly not forgotten by its supporters this Giving Hearts Day. This free social gathering for those experiencing memory loss has been experiencing increased growth and demand for their services in the Fargo Moorhead area. Funds raised will go toward building financial stability to ensure the organization’s longevity, and also to find a home better suited to host their various programs and training opportunities.

Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley serves to recognize the intrinsic beauty and value of those living with memory loss while inspiring in them – and their care partners – hope, joy, and a sense of empowerment. It is the only organization like it in the Fargo Moorhead area, and the memory loss community continues to grow.

The programs offered cover a wide variety including exercise, creative arts, education, exercise, and support groups. In fact, a Giving Hearts Day Chorus group from Memory Cafe made a special appearance on Giving Hearts Day!

“People who are forgetting should not be forgotten.”

Best of all, each of these programs are offered at no cost to the participants, which is why fundraisers like Giving Hearts Day are so important.

What these programs concurrently convey to the participants is that they don’t have to be alone on the journey of living with memory loss or caring for someone living with memory loss. And they receive that message in tenfold when a donor shows their support. So by placing first in fundraising, that message is stronger than ever.

GHD Awards are co-sponsored by Bush Foundation and Dakota Medical Foundation.
